A 16-year-old girl was fatally shot near a South Bronx school building Thursday afternoon, the police said.
Officers answering a 911 call around 5 p.m. arrived at Home Street and Tinton Avenue in the Morrisania section to find the girl with a gunshot wound to the head, the police said.
The girl was taken to Lincoln Hospital in critical condition and was later pronounced dead, the police said. Her name was not released pending notification of her family.
